Andy Burnham's speaking voice is v much about adopting Orwell's rules 2, 3, 4 and 5 fron Poitics & the English language, probably consciiously as well as instinctively. I think he is the first PM to be an English graduate. (But I expect he will break rule 1 quite happily, eg Bank of Mum and Dad)
Never use a metaphor, simile or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.

ii. Never use a long word where a short one will do.

iii. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.

iv. Never use the passive where you can use the active.

v. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.

vi. Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

Britain’s youth crisis: growing up in poverty increases NEET likelihood
A dose of 'tough love' has been proposed as part of the answer to Britain's NEET problem - the nearly one million 16-24 year olds not in education, employment or training.

Let's be wildly generous to Trump and agree – in the face of *all* evidence and sense – that oil prices are high because of the Russia/Ukraine war, and not the Iranian one. Didn't a certain presidential candidate promise it would be easy to end that war? On "day one", in fact?

The UK now has the highest (18-24-year-old) NEET rate compared to the 22 EU economies in the OECD. ➡️ buff.ly/wjUnnja
The UK’s growing NEETs crisis has rightly been the big domestic story of the week. Chart of the Week puts it into a European perspective, and the story is equally depressing. The UK has the highest (18-24 year old) NEET rate compared to the 22 EU economies in the OECD, and the only country in the EU with a higher NEET rate than us is Romania (which is not in the OECD). Some of the drivers of being NEET in the UK are common across many economies, like the rising prevalence of poor mental health.

There is understandable concern with potential risks of data sharing in the NHS. There is also actual & real harm that happens regularly because there isn’t enough NHS data sharing. Changes to improve data sharing for NHS & social care services will make real positive difference to people’s lives.
