On the doc, Schumacher '94: 2 things can be true at once FIA hounded Michael BUT it also looked like he crashed into Damon deliberately to take him out in last race. Is reminiscent/prescient of when he would do the same thing to Jacques but it would not get him the title the 2nd time. #f1 #formula1

I hear a lot about all the investigations Dems will conduct if they win. That’s good. I hear zero about using what power they have to slow down Trump’s murder-sprint toward global incineration climate change. Absent that, it’s deck chairs.

One of my later images of the World Trade Center, taken in March of 1995, as I moved out of The City that summer. The Statue of Liberty and main structure of Ellis Island can be seen in the frame as well. Image © Richard Koenig #worldtradecenter #lowermanhattan #statueofliberty #ellisisland #wtc
A black and white photograph taken from the edge of the Hudson River, looking south toward the World Trade Center (left side of frame). Going from left to right, we also see Battery Park City, and then in the distance the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal. In the sky, filled with some light clouds, we also see the sun off to the upper right side of the frame with the Hudson reflecting its light below.

View from the Bridge If you walked over the Brooklyn Bridge in the 80s, this is what you saw. The World Trade Center is obvious of course, but look at the Woolworth Building (taken in 1988)—it's nearly hidden now. Image © Richard Koenig #worldtradecenter #brooklynbridge #woolworthbuilding #wtc
A color photograph made looking at lower Manhattan from the center of the Brooklyn Bridge. The World Trade Center dominates the frame, silver or white in early morning light. The Woolworth Building is in the middle of the frame, also glowing. The western tower of the bridge is next moving left to right, and lastly that ol' Ma Bell building, logo still attached. Much closer to the camera (and viewer of the image), a car from the late 1970s can be seen on the roadway below (on the bridge, headed for Brooklyn).

East River, World Trade Center Taken in the fall of 1981 (45 years ago) when I first moved to Brooklyn to attend Pratt. Seen from the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights; was using a 4 x 5 camera at that time (so glad for this). Image © Richard Koenig. #worldtradecenter #filmphotography #largeformat #wtc
A black and white photograph taken at night from the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights. Industrial messiness lies in the foreground (bottom third of image), the east river dominates the middle section, with lower Manhattan—topped by the glowing World Trade Center—is in the background. The lights of The City are reflected on the water of the river, the brightest bit being below the WTC. The image was made using a 4" x 5" large format camera, so there is much detail in the haunting image.

Sunset: Bodega and the World Trade Center Seen from my apartment on Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn. Had graduated from Pratt but was still livin' on ol' "Murder" Avenue. Shot on film of course as the digital thing was not up and running quite yet (1987). #worldtradecenter #wtc #myrtleavenue #brooklyn
A color photograph made in Brooklyn: a bodega is in the lower middle of the photograph, floating in inky blackness, which acts as the foreground. A street (Myrtle Avenue), seen only by street and traffic lights stretching into the distance is on the left hand side of the frame. A colorful sunset dominates the top 45% of the frame, with the silhouette of the World Trade Center toward the right side. This tiny bit of the frame becomes the true focal point of the image (given the weight of history).

Dolly Parton was they type of Christian that Christian Nationalists only *pretend* to be. Unlike Christian Nationalists, she didn't browbeat us with how CHRISTIAN she was. She just lived her life doing things that Jesus asked her to do, like heal the sick, help the children, and care for the poor.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.
“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”

Moon over West Bay A full Buck Moon rises over Grand Traverse Bay, West Arm, in Traverse City, Michigan. Taken July 28th 2026. #fullbuckmoon #fullmoon #grandtraversebay #traversecity #bluehour
A full moon can be seen in the top/center of this color photograph. The landscape between the photographer and moon is, from top to bottom, trees (in the distance), water (Grand Traverse Bay), and more foliage (close to the photographer). It was taken during the blue hour and so is both quite dark and blue.

Full Buck Moon A waxing gibbous moon (illuminated 99.8%) climbs through a fair amount of muck in the atmosphere. I had to wait for some time for the moon to be this visible; I believe said muck also caused the color to shift the way it appears here. 7-28-26 #waxinggibbous #fullbuckmoon #fullmoon
A waxing gibbous moon (illuminated 99.8%) appears in the center/top part of this color image. A bay, with boats and a breakwater at at the bottom of the frame. Trees and buildings can be seen above that. The sky and moon take up a good two-thirds of the image.
