Delighted to share that I’ve been awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant for #InfantNeuroAI The project will investigate how human infants learn to understand the visual world, by combining awake infant neuroimaging (fMRI and OPM-MEG) with computational models from AI.

Finally got around to this interesting exchange. Much to like! However, in my view neonate cortex is building a foundation model while sub-cortical sensorimotor routes support newborn behaviours and, importantly, bias the inputs to the foundation model (e.g. orienting toward faces).

i've been thinking about this story all day and can't get over it she took a massive pile of cash and rather than putting up fancy buildings or spending on some risky moonshot, she just went and made it free for young people to learn to be doctors, in the Bronx, in perpetuity what an utter badass
