First page of the new Dredd story by Williams, Wyatt and Flint. At this point Flint is operating on a completely different level. The things he is doing here with perspective, flow, information and pacing feel intuitive but properly new.

If I never hear from Sharon Graham, ever again, it will be several months too soon. She is typical of the intellectual dishonesty plaguing this country, which demands radical change, but objects to anything actually changing.

I'm very happy to see a viable pathway back to EU membership. My heart is sinking in my chest at the idea that I will once again spend a lot of time reading and talking about customs checks and regulatory barriers.

Ticket bought, I am in London with work that night anyway so why not spend the evening watching a play about such a great man. Incidentally I found Burnham's speech on people wanting 'a good life' very Keynesian I wonder if he's seen it. Really looking forward to it.

I'm watching this Fairford story on CNN its bonkers. Trump has no idea what he's saying "its Iranian terrorists" and so the media jumped on it. My mother in law lives very close, the whole village is saying its blokes nicking diesel fuel and its happened before. Its all very burn after reading.

This is dream territory for Labour surely - Reform and the Tories splitting the right vote between them. For the last few months, Labour needed two things: a poll boost, and a modest Tory resurgence. Seems like it's getting them both.

At the Liberal Democrat conference there is about to be a debate on a motion on trans rights. If the motion is passed - which seems likely – then the LDs would be the first major UK party to explicitly reject the EHRC guidance and call for possible legal change to the supreme court ruling.

Burnham should call this village's bluff. Declare them independent. Then impose massive tariffs on anything they want to import from the UK. Charge them to use local NHS services. Charge them to send their kids to the local secondary schools. See if they still want to be independent then.

This seemingly idiotic Piddington bullshit needs to be called out for what it is, rather than as some justifiable act of communal victimhood. And any responsible govt minister and media outlet would say so too. Nothing ‘legitimate’ about this. Just nasty prejudice thinking it’s got a point.
If that sounds crude, it's because the politics of this are very crude and we should be clearer about what these people are really saying.
It is essential to the anti-refugee right that asylum seekers are never presented as desperate people in need of help, but instead as an invasion force. That is where the language of fighting-age men and sexual violence comes from. We barely even notice it anymore, but our entire narrative around asylum has shifted into an invasion storyline, which even a few years ago was only heard in the wilder territories of the far right. So instead she does what Labour ministers did under Kier Starmer and will now evidently do under Andy Burnham, and pretends that all this ignorant zombified racist Facebook tosh is, in fact, reasonable and valid.
If only our problems could be solved by ushering this village out of the UK and putting it into some kind of international quarantine zone. But unfortunately, they can't, because there is nothing special about Piddington. It is consuming the same poisoned media diet as the rest of the country and parroting the same toxic lies.
It can be stopped of course. But that means we have to challenge it, rather than pay lip-service to it.

This Burnham line on electoral reform is important: "I do believe there needs to be a mandate to make that change... I believe we will need to get a consensus at the next election. And if there is that consensus, then a change can be made in the next parliament."
