Societies infrastructure to create knowledge is mainly built on the mud, that comes from the trust into organisations with inherent conflict of interests and the means to fabricate any type of raw data. I have ideas but not the funding nor time to get it.

29/ This shows that even a small zombie trial can severely “infect” the overall results of a NMA. Furthermore, this shows that unreliable/zombie trials can be undetected with classic risk of bias analysis.

27/ Nonetheless, we were able to closely reproduce the findings of the three NMAs. !!! Main finding: excluding the zombie trial resolved inconsistencies between the Lancet and Cochrane NMAs and also inconsistencies between direct and indirect evidence in the Lancet NMAs

I’ve been told for years that it’s legally and ethically impossible to share medical RCT data. In 2024, the BMJ made sharing anonymised data mandatory, and now lots* of folk do it. Interesting how the barriers evaporated like that, isn’t it? *not everyone, compliance problems exist.

And does it shift the Systematic reviews outcomes? This is exactly the kind of stuff expected to occur to either unintentionally shift results (studies hiding behind assumed truths) or sway them on purpose (conflict of interests). Its even in cardio. That's the stuff James Heathers should work at.

We published a new paper in the #CanadianJournalOfCardiology doi.org/10.1016/j.cj... We show that 57 of 201 included articles (28.4%) contain image-related or data-related issues. All these papers investigated microvascular injury after acute myocardial infarction in mouse, rat and pig models.

People should really be careful with those kind or jokes. They basically deny that any safety testing is needed before any harm is known. Rather point to data that shows safety than to deny the need for safety. Or go buy your muuuch cheaper Chinese car that had 0 safety testing.

Astonishing. RFK Jr. adds 8 members to a 6 member FDA advisory panel. 6 of them were sellers of peptides, and the 7th a compounding pharmacist. In an 8-6 vote with all 8 votes coming from these new panel members, the panel approved 4 peptides against the objections of FDA scientists.

Gosh, you wonder why they don’t just ask an AI chatbot or something. (From the NYT article on the “Spudcell” work).
Description of how the work to produce stripped-down living cells led to one with only 525 genes, and how one-third of them had unknown functions. Another ten years of work and there are still 56 of these genes that are essential, but no one knows why.
