the thing about kingdom hearts is that no, for the most part the story isn't actually hard to follow if you just play all the games in order. but there are a LOT of games, and this is not a barrier to entry that many other game series really have, especially among RPGs

To add to this, I'm very happy my timeline is like 99% hype. It's just that growing up playing KH and constantly being made fun of for liking it because one journalist or youtuber made fun of the series as they saw it as an easy slam dunk pissed me off so much.

People are really, really weird about Kingdom Hearts and most of them aren't even the superfans. Just because a series isn't for you doesn't mean it's not filled with all-timer releases. It's beloved for a reason beyond just the Disney adults.
