Most people, including really accomplished people, don't have an accurate mental model of how LLMs operate (and why would they?) You see this in widespread beliefs that AI is just copying from known sources, or that it only produces average answers, or that it can't generate effectively novel ideas

Two very big things here: 1) since sanctioning of Rosneft and Lukoil, the largest exporter of Russian crude is an entity called "Redwood Global". It SO HAPPENS that they share an e-mail server with a group of Azeri traders who EU sanctions officials believe are pals with the chief exec of Rosneft.

This may be just my personal ignorance speaking but I would so appreciate it if all the politicos informing us how various governments will now succeed *because they have AI* would go into detail a bit. How exactly will AI help run a country? “They can use AI, it will be great.” is not an answer.
