Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country. Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high. Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record. Noticing a pattern?

Here’s the thing about Y2K, the ozone layer, etc. The most leftist—in the sense of *valuing labor*—thing you can do is reject the brainwashing that tells you that heroism is running into a burning building and not the slow, patient, boring, unglamorous work of *preventing* disaster.

Cook County alone has over 3,000 voting precincts. I bet at least some of those have multiple polling stations. This isn’t good—no attack on free elections is—but also important to keep that 1,000 in perspective. I don’t they could put a real dent in polling places even just in competitive places.

this is a pretty good microcosm of how things in big tech have changed over the past few years is this really important? no, but "what's in the microkitchens" is an easy way to make people feel special, which is something that used to be very important in big tech now it's "sit down and shut up"

One good thing about law reviews: their refusal to allow unsupported assertions and preference for quotes from sources rather than paraphrasis means that it's a lot harder for authors in them to be accused of plagiarism. (Not impossible. But harder!)
