I think it's great that devs can go with different musicians across their development careers and introduce new colors to the work. But boy, it sure would be great for composer morale and institutional knowledge if there was such a thing as in-house sound teams again.

The Talmud teaches that anyone who sustains one soul, has sustained an entire world. For generations, Jewish New Yorkers have sustained our city. Today, we are launching the first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism.

Together, we will ensure Jewish New Yorkers are safe and celebrated. We will invest in their protection, their history, and their future.

Our safety and our thriving are tied together.

@NYCMayor Mamdani's antisemitism strategy finally landed
and only confirms what we already knew: this mayor does
not treat the hate facing Jewish New Yorkers as an
emergency and refuses to acknowledge the different shapes
it takes. Since he took office 271 days ago, ADL has recorded
hundreds of antisemitic incidents in NYC, nearly 40% of
which were related to Israel.
After throwing out the IHRA definition on his first day in
office, nine months later, his signature strategy still refuses
to replace it with any working definition of antisemitism. He
has looked the other way as flags glorifying terror groups
have been flown outside synagogues, a deliberate act meant
to intimidate families walking in to pray, and as crowds
gathered outside houses of worship voicing support for the
same groups. At the same time, he continues prioritizing his
anti-Israel agenda over the basic promises he made to
Jewish New Yorkers.
Our expectations have not changed: zero tolerance for
antisemitism and extremism in city government, real
protection for Jewish institutions, a clear and formal
definition of antisemitism that the city actually uses, and city
contracts, pensions and procurement kept free of ideological
boycotts. ADL will keep tracking and fighting antisemitism in
New York City and across the country, whether or not this
mayor is willing to do the same.

I think you would have to be doing a couple full soundtracks a year to survive off game music alone, and besides that opportunity only existing for very few composers, that's also a brutal hustle. I have to switch it up and have a few lanes. Bottom line is most of us virtually have at least 3 jobs.

Per Reuters, Anthropic has $252 billion in non-cancelable compute obligations across Microsoft, Google and Amazon, and $161.2 billion in Broadcom TPU lease obligations that are "largely non-cancelable". Truly insane. $413 billion in non-cancelable contracts. www.reuters.com/business/ant...
The company said it plans to spend at least $111.1 billion with Alphabet's (GOOGL.O), opens new tab Google, $110 billion with Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab and $31.4 billion with Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab under long-term infrastructure service obligations over the next seven to 10 years "regardless of usage."
Anthropic is separately carrying about $161.2 billion of Broadcom (AVGO.O), opens new tab-related equipment lease obligations that are largely non-cancelable, according to the prospectus. Anthropic filed for an IPO confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June but its paperwork has not been publicly disclosed.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the filing.
The company said it committed to pay Google between April 2026 and July 2033 and Amazon between May 2026 and April 2036.
"If our actual spend falls short, we must pay Google the difference," the company said, adding that similar terms apply to its Amazon agreement.
It added its commitment with Microsoft of $31.4 billion between November 2026 and May 2033 "is non-cancelable except in the event of Microsoft's uncured material breach."

Shigeru Miyamoto has claimed that Toad is his least favorite character in Mario Kart. Despite this, in all footage of him playing Mario Kart 8, he picked Toad every time. Whether he was joking or specifically picking a character he hates to challenge himself is unknown.
I have an important question. Nintendo has also just released Mariokart 7 for the 3DS. In every iteration of Mariokart, I've always preferred to play as Toad. Who's your favorite character?
That's the most challenging question! I'm sorry that I cannot come up with an interesting answer. Somehow, it's habit to me, but I play with Mario. He's a very balanced character.
Who's your least favorite character?
Toad. [Laughs]
My favorite character is your least favorite character?
I understand that he has some popularity. Somehow.
In a 2012 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shigeru Miyamoto has claimed Toad is his least favorite Mario Kart character.
In December 2014, Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen played Mario Kart 8 against YouTuber Rosanna Pansino. Miyamoto picked Toad.
Also in December 2014, Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen played Mario Kart 8 against YouTuber iJustine. Miyamoto picked Toad again.
Finally, in January 2015, the two played Mario Kart 8 against YouTube group Smosh Games. Miyamoto picked Toad again.
Whether Miyamoto simply had an enormous change of heart about Toad in the intervening 2 years, or whether he was picking his least favorite to challenge or punish himself, is unknown.

The Flintstones: Bedrock Bowling 1/4
Mr. Slate, Fred's boss is breaking his stones again (giggidy), telling him that he has to finish digging a trench by tomorrow morning or he's fired, while Barney rolls along and tells Fred they have to practice for the bowling tournament.

Fred wishes that he could somehow work and bowl at the same time and a tiny floating green alien guy with a big helmet pops in, called the Great Gazoo, snaps his fingers and creates numerous trenches and canyons, populating them with gems and bowling pins, and gives Fred a hollowed out half-bowl to sit in as he slides down the levels, hitting sparsely placed bowling pins and other obstacles in something that has almost nothing to do with bowling.

Here we have Fred sliding down the neck of a big orange dinosaur as he approaches the finish flag.Fred and Barney, as the irresponsible fathers that they are, let their infant children take a roll down the dangerous trenches, with Pebbles here goo-gooing and ga-gaaing to the right towards a big purple flower and past a small pond with a geyser and a cute pink elephant that's just having a nice shower.Barney rolls into the boney mouth of a giant dinosaur skeleton with its spine and ribs visible yonder.Bamm-Bamm sliding through the Crystal Caves and into a dimly lit chamber with several small pockets of glowing green goo, creating an eerie atmosphere while bowling pins and purple crystals float all willy nilly around the level.
