Seven minutes after the previous photo, this time looking due west from the same highway. Several trees, some field and grasses, and the roof line of a low outbuilding can be seen against the neon yellow, pale, peach, fiery, orange, gray, and pale blue of the sunset. Things are being moved. Max is Big Mad. So much extra work. Stacks of stuff require close inspection. He has to fight the throw pillows and whomp the magazines. No one helps. He was unable to rearrange the Buddha and lamp. They’re secured with museum wax. He tried! Frankly, he’s exhausted.

This tree sprouted from where we took down an enormous oak in 2014. Can’t figure out if it’s a rare chokecherry, or a variety of black cherry, or something else entirely. It makes the local birds pretty happy so we won’t remove it.

Smallish dark purple berries on long reddish stems with shiny oval leaves and reddish distal branches.
