MSNBC issues grovelling apology over analyst’s ‘disgusting’ remarks following Charlie Kirk’s death
MSNBC has been forced to issue an apology for comments by an analyst following the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. The founder of ‘Turning Point USA’ was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Following the shooting, MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd placed the blame for the shooting on Kirk himself due to his rhetoric. Dowd also suggested that Kirk’s shooting came from a “supporter shooting their gun off in celebration.” The online response to Dowd’s comments was so severe that the network’s president, Rebecca Kutler, has issued an apology. Dowd’s comments quickly went viral online with several users slamming the analyst’s “disgusting” remarks. “Statement from MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler: “During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise”,” MSNBC wrote.
