In the Rationalist scene, Sonia Joseph says she also encountered some real grade-A creeps who wanted to talk about things "like the age of consent is actually like way too high. Like relationships with young girls, like 12-year-old girls are actually normal."
Sonia says she considered herself outside of the rationalist community. She says she didn't like the way she felt and the way she and other women were treated by the community. For example, she met one rationalist who told her that he was the inspiration for the Voldemort character and the rationalist Harry Potter fan fiction.

JOSEPH: He would go on to say some pretty concerning things to me when we got dinner. Like you need to think from first principles. If you think from first principles, a lot of human society doesn't make sense. Things like the age of consent is actually like way too high. Like relationships with young girls, like 12-year-old girls are actually normal.

It's like a normal transfer of knowledge. Stuff that like, I found like very morally concerning. But I think if there's a stereotype or among like certain like libertarian spheres, which overlap with rationalist spheres, you can derive morality and a lot of things that we take for granted is like human rights become open for debate again.

BECKER: Eventually Sonia decided she had to get away from Silicon Valley, as she tells that she wanted some distance from some of the culty behavior. So she moved to Montreal, where she's now a visiting AI researcher at Meta and working on a PhD. She says many rationalist ideas have become well known in the past few years, but for her, they don't have the same appe

A new view of cosmic beauty from JWST! This time it's a weirdly shaped galaxy, though to have merged with another. Arp 263 has a twisted shape, characterised by clumps of star-forming regions within longer tails of stars, dust, and gas. The other galaxy is either gone or already part of Arp 63.
From the source: "An irregular galaxy, appearing like a broad band of tiny stars. It is denser on one side, with a faint cloud of gas among the stars. Clumps of brighter points are newly formed stars, with the largest lights being star clusters, and with many surrounded in glowing blue gas clouds. Plumes of red dust surround the galaxy. A foreground star appears very large and bright. A few distant galaxies appear in the background."

Defendants' Response confirms that this Court's urgent intervention is imperative. The
filing is not signed by any career government lawyers including those who have appeared in this case. For good reason. The Department of Justice has offered up a cocktail of fabulous
pronouncements and stunning inaccuracies untethered to law or reality. In open defiance of the
Court's decision, Defendants take direct aim at the Court's prior conclusions of law, disputing whether Plaintiff has a "legal right to vote" at Board meetings and repeatedly advancing statutory arguments which they admit the Court "previously rejected." Defs.' Resp., ECF No. 68 at 3, 7.

When I talk about the takeover of the DOJ by the absolute dregs of the conservative legal movement, this is what I’m referring to. What are we doing here, man. How do you think the English language works like this. ballsandstrikes.substack.com/p/the-trump-...
All three actions adopted by the Board are completely lawful. No statute names the Plaza
or prohibits the Board from re-naming it. Just the opposite! Congress has authorized the Board to "maintain and administer" the "site" containing the Center, and that entails the authority to name it. In fact, just seven years ago, the Center named a substantial portion of its grounds, "The REACH," without a semblance of protest. Nobody had any idea what it even meant. Evidently,
Beatty contends that the Center's grounds can be re-named only if the re-naming does not
acknowledge President Trump. That position has no merit. An order blocking the Board from appropriately recognizing President Trump will cause donors to flee, financial contributions to dry up, and structural rehabilitation to stop. There will simply not be the expertise or funding necessary to rebuild and renovate this decimated structure.
The Trump Administration is ready to go but, without it, the Kennedy Center cannot be saved.
There are many conflicts of interest having to do with the Kennedy Center, and it would be a shame if those conflicts of interest would destroy the very thing that we are all trying to save. In short, without appropriate recognition, the Kennedy Center will be back where it was at the beginning
— A financially insolvent facility, housed in a decrepit, dilapidated, crumbling building, that is bleeding hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, and continues to race toward physical and
financial ruin.
