Does this mean no changes at all for towers? Because while I agree that these changes would be great for short buildings I think we also need improvements for towers. A larger number of smaller and cheaper elevators are needed to address elevator maintenance/shutdown risks and excessive costs

With the increasing length of the Expo Line, people often bring up the idea of making the SkyTrain faster by adding skip stop or local/express service patterns In short, local & express services should be possible with additional platforms at 4 stations This thread explores one way to do that

The challenge came when I found that four or five functions were actually buggy - always around their understanding of denormals. Then I had to quadruple check my code before updating the failing tests. Net result: 5x faster sin/cos/pow/etc. with improved correctness!

I enjoyed seeing links to three floating-point blog posts that I wrote. The discussion about tests reminded me of when I optimized the transcendental functions in the C runtime for Xbox 360. I could typically get a 5x speedup while giving exactly the same results.

Canada should make side guards on trucks mandatory; the usual excuse no longer works

Now that we are plotting an independent course from the USA, it’s time to develop our own safety strategies and standards.

It is hard to get any sense of what was previously allowed there, whereas the source diagram makes that more clear. Although even the source diagram fails to explicitly state what the white areas are (presumably zoned for single-detached homes). Consider updating that diagram to make it readable

It's an interesting read and I was pleased to see some of the progress that has been made and the suggestions for more work (such as as-of-right zoning) However the diagram showing King Edward is not great. The removal of the descriptions in the legend (compared to the source) worsens the diagram.

There's no actual disk activity going on because the file is fully cached, but reading from the disk cache still consumes CPU. Maybe it's a database bug? But more likely it's a bug in their use of the database.
