seven years ago today i started transitioning. it's not a great time to be trans but i wouldn't have the life i do or the career i have if i hadn't taken the leap and done the hard thing. you only get one chance at living. if you're not doing it authentically, what's the point?

This is 100% correct And also The underlying issue, which I think most cis people don't recognize, is that the folks who think that these things are reasonable think *all trans peoples'* identities are fundamentally fraudulent. Or more simply: most cis people think trans people are just liars.
