The first time I ever covered data centers was in 2018. Back then I learned of communities in Chandler that were seeing their home value depreciate due to the constant hum of a nearby data center. 3 years later the city, which built more of them than anyone, began to backtrack.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero released a statement on the shooting outside Venture-N Bar early this morning and says it’s being investigated as a hate crime. The suspect reportedly had a list of more LGBTQ+ businesses in the area. The victims are Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and Cameron Davis Capara.
Mayor Regina Romero 22m

Early this morning, Tucson experienced a direct and devastating attack on our LGBTQ+ community, another senseless act of gun violence. I stand in solidarity with everyone impacted by this tragedy and send my love and healing prayers to the families of the victims.

Tucson Police Department Investigators confirmed that the suspect possessed addresses for multiple LGBTQ+ friendly venues, intending to cause more harm. TPD is treating this entirely as a hate crime. This tragedy serves as yet another painful reminder that homophobia is still rampant in our country. We must implement smarter policies to prevent mass shootings and keep our communities safe. Easy access to firearms and Arizona's weak gun safety laws continue to put all of us at risk.

For our community members experiencing pain and heartbreak from this tragedy, I encourage you to reach out and call the Pima County Attorney Victim Services at (520) 724-5525 and ask to speak with an advocate.

To my LGBTQ+ community, you are not alone.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.

h/t @robertfreundlaw.bsky.social holy shit, an accurate legal critique of LLMs. LLMs don't reason because they're just stitching together plausible-looking sentences indifferent to the content
What happens when ChatGPT cites to a real case but misstates what the case stands for?

That doesn't fly for Judge Behm in Michigan.

The court says that while a litigant could make the same error based on faulty reasoning, LLMs can't, because they can't reason. And while a litigant might get away with similar overstatements because they could, perhaps, reason their way to showing how a case's stated holding might extend to novel situations, an LLM does not reason in the way a litigant must. To put it in a slightly different way, LLMs do not perform the metacognitive processes that are necessary to comply with Rule 11.

When an LLM overstates a holding of a case, it is just piecing together a plausible-looking sentence
