I wish this were happening in every community in America that is under assault by ICE. But I’m proud of Danbury. Thousands came out tonight to protest ICE’s brutality - including this horrific new tactic of disappearing parents at school bus stops.
A crowd marches through a city street holding signs in support of human rights, with several people linking arms at the front of the demonstration.A large crowd gathers outside a covered stage, holding protest signs opposing the Trump administration and calling attention to immigration, healthcare, and other issues.A crowd of marchers holding a large banner that says “Ae the people melt ICE” Senator Chris Murphy speaking out the rally.

🏛️ Government websites can change or disappear overnight, taking public records with them. 🕳️ Libraries have collaborated on the End of Term Web Archive since 2004 to preserve U.S. government websites at every presidential transition. blog.archive.org/2026/08/24/a... 🧵
Social media tile with a black border. At top, a bold headline reads "Archiving Democracy: How the U.S. End of Term Web Archive Preserves Government History." Below it, a bar chart titled "End of Term Archive Data Growth" shows storage size in terabytes rising from 6 TB in 2004 to 2,345 TB in 2024, with intermediate values of 15 (2008), 41 (2012), 284 (2016), and 266 (2020). Below the chart, text reads: "The Internet Archive has participated in the End of Term (EOT) Archive since 2004, preserving U.S. federal government websites at every presidential transition."

The back seat of a car. There is a squishy toy next to a full campfire. The text reads: Bad place for a burn hazard. Campfires don't belong in the back seat and neither do squishy toys. Squishy toys left in hot cars can burst and cause severe injuries. Always bring squishy toys inside where it's cool. Never heat squishy toys in a microwave or anywhere else.

Book without a cover with several loose, torn pages sticking out. Part of the introduction is shown on this page, but large portions of the page are missinga kids book without a cover. the last page of the book showing the poem wynken, blynken, and nod along with a black and white illustration. the pages are worn and tattered on the edges. there are pen marks on the last page

Today marks 250 years since a small group of newspaper editors, farmers, and soldiers signed a document declaring our nation's independence — a truth that feels self-evident now but was revolutionary then.
What a privilege us Americans have, to live in a nation that every one of its inhabitants can shape. What an honor us New Yorkers have, to look out over our city's waters from the shores where so many Americans bravely entered their country for the first time.
Today and all days, let us remember that patriotism is not pretending our nation is without flaws. Patriotism is every act of righteous dissent — because loving our country means fighting for the best version of it.
Happy Fourth of July, New York City.
