The videos circulating online of white supremacists rallying in Danbury are horrifying. This vile demonstration serves as a grim reminder that racism is not a problem of the past or confined to other places—it exists right here and is deeply traumatic for everyone who calls Danbury and Connecticut home. Hatred has no place in our communities, and we must confront it at every opportunity. While some may attempt to instill fear, we will not be deterred.
In this moment, I am reminded of a quote, “There are two types of evil people in this world: those who commit evil acts, and those who witness evil and do nothing to stop it.” We stand firm in our commitment that the diversity makes our communities stronger and should be celebrated.
I am in close communication with local leaders and will continue to assist in any way I can.

I voted for a Continuing Resolution that keeps the government funded through Dec. 11. This bipartisan CR does not provide any additional funding for ICE or CBP, stops a rule that discriminates against grant recipients and makes sure money appropriated by Congress goes where it is supposed to.
