Gas prices have risen dramatically this year. For the typical driver, that's $65 more spent on gas monthly. If you're a typical F-150 driver in states like Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi, or Missouri, you're spending >$350 a month on gas now. We've got to give people other options.

True fact: the airports in Mobile and Baton Rouge offer flights to the same 5 places: ATL, CLT, DCA, DFW, IAH From neither airport can you fly direct to New Orleans. You’d have to go somewhere else and backtrack. And yet people think “there’s an airport, why need a train?”🚆

The US and Canada seem to forget that BRT is supposed to be a more like a metro system with buses and not just a frequent bus route with slightly better stations and maybe a bus lane.

Would a scheme such as this work on the proposed Austin-San Antonio HSR long TX 130 & I-10 right-of-way? Downtown San Marcos, for instance, is about 15 miles from 130, a reasonable distance for light rail.

Earlier this month, TxDOT received $756 million from the federal government for 12 rail grade separation projects, including one to fix this cluster in Fort Worth, where Decatur Avenue crosses over six different sets of tracks used by freight, commuter, and Amtrak trains.
