Got it done! The idea I had to make a set of “grief cards” to be mailed to the bereaved throughout the first year has become actual cards and a listing on my Etsy shop. rafinleyenterprises.etsy.com/listing/4589...

A set of six sympathy cards. The illustration style is simple, similar to an artistic “cartoon.” Four of the cards say “Thinking of you” and depict a different season of the year: autumn, winter, spring, summer. The other two show a bowl-shaped vase of daisies and a birthday cake with daisies, respectively.

Awwww! Thank you! That’s wonderful. It *is* a bit slow going in, I do admit. I’m not sure I’d write that the same were I to start it today — and hopefully I’m not creating a similar issue with the start of Book 4, which I’m working on now. I plan to use my edit pen quite a bit!

If you really want a ritual, chop up some apple, heat it so that you can kind of smush it up a bit — a mix of soft pieces and mush. And then when it cools to “pleasantly warm,” rub it all over your face. Crazy as it seems, my skin loved it, when I had the energy for the effort & cleanup.

I’m sitting here trying to think of other nickname options — none of them good. I mean, “Bertie” is fine if you’re a Wodehouse character but not if you’re a young woman living in 1920s LA with aspirations. The warning about “you can be recorded and your voice used by scammers” has really stuck with me, so no, I’m not going to answer questions from an unknown. I’ve had my phone tell me I was getting a call from my bank and my phone company and I was not, so why would I trust any caller?

I cannot recommend n95 and kn95 masks enough. I've covered enormous wildfires multiple times throughout my career (southern california reporter) and they have saved my ass time and again. Remember, burning houses also means burning household chemicals
