the statement various green MPs have put out shows nobody understood the meaning or practical effect of what they were voting on, and the only conclusion you can draw that isn't completely contradictory is the party thinks racism is fine

Holy fuck!
Four men on a stage playing instruments, looking like they’re really into, and moving with, the music. The stage is washed with orange light and light blue spot lights. From left to right the men are a guitarist wearing a baseball cap, glasses and a stripped t shirt. He’s standing in front of some electronics and looking across the stage. Next to him is a drummer, then a bass player, finally a keyboard player who’s crouched over the keyboards singing into a microphone. Behind them a screen is projecting images of the electronic equipment they’re using. In front of the stage the audience have their hands in the air.

Manchester’s Northern Quarter is a coffee drinker’s paradise. So far today Idle Hands and Siop Shop – the latter with pistachio and vanilla glazed donut!
Close up of a free-standing sign on the pavement outside a shop. The sign has a white background. At the top the words Idle Hands written in capital letters outlined in black. Then a circle of black lines in a compass formation, inside of which is a line drawing of a hand holding a slice of pie. At the bottom in capitals it says “coffee / pie / kitchen”Picture of a corner shop. The wall is brick and the columns between windows and the space along the top of all the windows are painted a light teal colour. Towards the corner, the word Siop is written in white paint. Looking into a brown take away box. Inside a doughnut with a hole in it. It’s covered in a green-brown glaze with a white swirl.
A bright yellow take away coffee cup with white lid. On the cup is printed the word shop is in bright red all caps

I'd be fascinated to know if any zoos offer engineers/technicians for a day things (or maybe partnerships with those types of uni courses). There's a whole side of the zoo in terms of how climates are managed and maintained, how specialist equipment is used, etc. Who keeps the penguins' pool full?

Catching up with Taskmaster and I’m pretty sure this is the first time they’ve named a filming location. I’m assuming being name checked was part of the filming contract, in which case it’s a very smart move on the part of the Museum of Water and Steam.

Would really love it if the mainstream UK press made it more clear that the UK's 'Chief Rabbi' does not represent all of British Jewery, he is the head Rabbi for a specific union of Orthodox Rabbis and that's it. The title implies a general coverage of belief that does not reflect Jewdaism.

Bang on. Press choosing to hang out and 'debate' at the Reform Party conference is exactly the sort of complicity in and legitimisation of right-wing extremism that has led to the (almost certain) election of an AfD state government in Saxony-Anhalt. We must oppose, not engage with these fora.

Always also worth remembering when Universities UK and it's reps behave like massive, contemptuous pricks that they used to be known as the 'Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals' - and that's exactly who they represent - not universities, but themselves and their interests.

A suggested statement for Andy Burnham.
‘The British public decided in the 1930s that they would not tolerate black-shirted militias marching through their streets. They would cherish robust political argument; they would not accept thuggery and intimidation. When Oswald Mosley led his Blackshirts to Cable Street, local people turned them back. A new law – introduced by a Liberal, backed by Labour and carried by a Conservative majority – banned private militias, political uniforms and ‘the use or display of physical force in promoting any political object’. The British people are as determined today as in the 1930s that they will not accept the methods of Mussolini and the Munich Beer Hall. This government will uphold the law and defend the traditions of British democracy’.

The wider issue is the peanuts UKRI is operating with. Under £10bn for the engine of the UK's research in ALL subjects should be a national disgrace. Jodrell Bank is a helpful example but we are losing so much across *every* research field. This underfunding will damage the UK for decades to come.
