Two kids are sitting at their desks in the classroom, the boy is secretly handing a folded piece of paper and looking coy, while the girl is looking at the note in an uninterested, bored, I'm too cool for this, way. The background shows a blackboard on the wall and three other kids unaware of what is happening.

For #kidlitartpostcard sharing an older illustration series that I still love. Inspired by actual events: badger in the tree = me, badger who poked wasp nest = friend. 💼 RachelIllustration.com 📧 RachelGozhansky@gmail.com Interested in PB, CB, MG, puzzles + magazines. Open to representation
Illustration made with graphite and watercolor of two badgers: one badger is running away from a swarm of wasps; the other badger is stuck in a tree trying to get downIllustration made using graphite and watercolor of two badgers: they are sitting inside and one badger is caring for the wasp stings all over the other badger. Behind them is a glass door through which we can see a swarm of wasps trying to get in.A series of 3 illustrations all made using graphite and watercolor. The illustrations tell the story of two badger friends. In the first scene the badgers are in a meadow and one badger is climbing a tree while the other is poking a stick into a hole in the ground. In the second scene we see a swarm of wasps has emerged from the hole and is chasing the badger that poked them. The other badger is desperately trying to get out of the tree. In the last scene the badgers are inside safe from the wasps and one badger is helping care for all the stings covering the other badger.

Rainshine. Like the way life is heavy & beautiful at once. This #kidlitartpostcard day, I’m finding sunshine in the people I love—I hope you are too! As an illustrator who specializes in stories about wrangling big emotions, I create characters who discover that small is mighty & tender is strong.
Children’s book illustration of two kids (sisters) hugging under a red umbrella in the middle of a rainstorm. Part of the storm is a scribbly, smiling cloud with cut-out raindrops, resembling a child’s artwork. The taller child with darker hair basks in the reflected glow of the smaller blonde child, who emanates golden light as if she were sunshine itself.
