GDM employee quit with a rather thoughtful essay robert.ocallahan.org/2026/09/good...
Here are some things I'm confident about. I'm confident that the people in Al labs who are issuing warnings about Al are generally sincere. I've talked to many people in Google Deepmind about these issues and almost all of them have sincere and serious concerns, whether or not they voice them in public. I have seen no hard evidence that people are hyping Al risk as a means to boost company stock prices or regulate away their competitors. (I think national and international regulation is desperately needed!) I've seen a lot of arguments of the form
"you can't trust those people"
', and maybe that's true,
but such distrust is not a good reason to disregard their warnings, as Russell Moore eloquently explained recently.

Bi Visibility Day reminder that biphobia is toxic and boring. If someone asks you to pick a side, pick up your keys and leave. If someone says you're greedy, steal their car. If someone says it's just a stop on the way to being gay, steal all their pets and give them better lives.

The agenda is being forced upon us. Even our games aren't safe.
A bright sun in a clear blue sky with bold text below stating, "They made the sun bisexual in GTA 6." The word "bisexual" is in a vibrant pink and blue design. "INFOWARS" is written at the bottom.

In particular, this reuses a lot of the skills and infrastructure used for running AI-automated fraud rings. Which are definitely going to be a thing, and as noted below, likely rely on open-weights models. But I would not rule out Claude/ChatGPT being capable of the same, based on what I’ve seen.

FWIW I do worry about a rogue agent swarm hacking a crypto exchange, renting a bunch of servers via stolen money and identities, and gaining the ability to operate autonomously.

If what actually happened is consecutive groups of hundreds of independent agents with shared belief structures spontaneously coordinating to achieve shared goals, I’m not sure traditional software iteration is a fair description either.

I would say right now - we are at a jaggedly superhuman intelligence that can work much faster than a human and can complete many tasks end-to-end. It feels like we have exceeded so many timelines but we might actually still be behind on this one?

I’ve been working on training and deploying specialized models for cyber defense, pervasively. It’s an asymmetric problem but the Gemma 4 series fine-tunes quite well.

X.com
Based on internal evals:
Kimi K3 is top-tier at cybersecurity
There is chatter on X that Moonshot benchmark-overfit. These are stealth evals. Model has raw IQ.
Sol is a leap ahead in cyber capability At a significantly higher cost, but quite remarkable still.
Fable refuses everything
We couldn't get it to complete the run at all.
What's interesting is that Sol in comparison was much more open to helping with defensive cyber hardening
