Also a story about how corrosive social media brain is, these people worked themselves into a frenzy doing an instagram pile on and have wrecked their own physical space as a result

I'm not much of a Pokémon person, but my son is & trying to buy him cards at retail prices has been nigh on impossible the last couple of years, and I refuse to pay scalpers for anything. So it warms the cockles of my heart to see so many of them having a full meltdown about the recent set. Enjoy!!

Yeah except right wingers don’t make actual movies/any kind of art anymore because they’ve voluntarily excluded themselves from these spaces. The best they can do now is culture war bait

I mean it’s a pretty fair point, you’ve been around politics for a long time and rubbed shoulders with some really ethically questionable people, how’s Hunter Biden any more “evil” than Glenn Beck?

We’ll never need to wonder whether the Declaration of Independence had impact. But what about Occupy Wall Street and other manifestos? What would yours say? Is violence necessary to succeed? And where does "On Bullshit" fit in? My latest @lincolnsquare.media www.lincolnsquare.media/p/manifesto-...

I feel like you could just as easily read the kaiju as symbolic of American empire, an omnipresent threat for “lesser” players that nurtures equal parts dependence and fear/hatred. That’s the great thing about critical analysis, you can make whatever bullshit argument you want!

Yeah a lot of it seems to boil down to “fuck these people who keep getting richer while we hustle just for the opportunity to eat their shit.” Folks are sick of feeling that way and data centers are a visible manifestation of that dynamic regardless of any impact actual data might suggest.

Today marks a very special day in science fiction literature. May I present to you, "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury:
THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS
By Ray Bradbury

The computer house buzzed awake. “Good morning, everyone,” it said.

Mr. Raynes woke up. He gave a big stretch. His wife was a robot and said “It’s a beautiful day today, my dear.”

“Yes, Mrs. Raynes” said he.

A program ran inside of her cybernetic brain, or “cy-brain”. It calculated the weather and other things.

“It may rain tonight, darling,” the robot mistress of the household said to her master.

He was scrolling through his phone, which was not just a telephonic device, but one with a video screen that could broadcast information from any corner of the earth. There was one application called, ironically, “Blue sky” he was looking at.

“Goodness me,” he intoned, “today is a date of great import. I must be the first to virally post that a story about soft rains coming mentioned this very date!”

He continued to intone. “August 4, 2026. That is the date of today.”

“You will collect hundreds or maybe even … calculating, calculating … thousands of likes, my husband.”

“Oh, look,” he splurted out, walking to the window. A rain began to fall.

“Let us thank God the Father and Christ the Son at His right hand,” said his faithful electronic wife.

“In gratitude, Lord, we look to Thee as our protector. Guide us through dark times and fair. Lead us as a shepherd past the temptations of iniquity and sin, and shelter us your devoted from the wickedness of others until we may join Thee again at the Great Reunion in your kingdom of Heaven. Of Thee, this we pray. Amen,” said Mr. Raynes.

“Amen,” said his robot wife, whose “cy-brain” was connected to the computer house through a “wireless” information relay protocol.

They were both Episcopalian.

When Elon Musk says "zero" children died in Africa from his DOGE cuts, he really means zero children died who are *worthy of any concern.* It's vile coded signaling to his global fascist audience. From me and @polphilpod.bsky.social, a deep dive into Musk's fascism: newrepublic.com/article/2135...

In his explosive interview with The Economist, the SpaceX billionaire inadvertently revealed something darker about his true vision for the future—and about his affinities with global fascism.

Elon Musk, owner of X, has called the editor of the Economist "a traitor to the West, plain and simple" after her recent interview with him. He now argues that "anyone who opposes remigration is a traitor" Musk has been socialising violence since Aug25: "fight or die, that's what it comes down to"
