When I looked this tip up online the only thing I saw was folks getting a colander slightly larger than the cooking pot, putting the colander on top, and then draining through it ("backwards", I guess?), but even that feels dangerous as you'd have to hold it tight to the super hot pot...

Can Two Friends Complete a Game No One Has Ever Finished? (Gift Article)
The Campaign for North Africa, a staggeringly complicated World War II board game, has stymied players for decades. Now two guys in England are giving it a serious go.

Oh man, our video game has both locations AND places!

I have also heard of companies popping up that want to get access to all of a large corporations Slack messages, and paying 6-7 figure sums to do so. They've run out of text for the AI machines to train on, so they're scrambling to find more.

Anybody else getting approached by companies who want to pay for access to your games' codebase so they can train AIs on it? Short term capital at the cost of having to compete with more AI-made games in the future. Ugh. Feels so predatory given how rough things are for most studios right now.

It has been 193 days since we've had an IRS Commissioner. That position has never been vacant. Not once since 1862, when the Bureau of Internal Revenue began collecting the revenue to help the United States put down the Confederacy. www.brookings.edu/projects/the...
Days Without an IRS Commissioner: 193. After Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's term as acting commissioner expired on March 6, 2026, the administration left the position unfilled. The Internal Revenue Service now has neither a Senate-confirmed nor an acting commissioner. Since the advent of the position in 1862, the IRS commissioner position has never previously been vacant.

Could it be a household with two cars but they are splitting the registration as if they only had one? The secondary car’s VIN wouldn’t match, and you’d need to make a fake sticker every year, but otherwise it would maybe just work?

This is an actual part of Shadows Over Loathing -- if you're a Cheese Wizard you eventually are forced into line at the DMV (Department of Magic and Vehicles) and have to figure out how to progress forward in the queue.
An image from the game Shadows Over Loathing, depicting 10 stick-figure-art characters waiting in line at the "Dept of Magic and Vehicles". The array of folks in line is quite diverse -- besides a few standard stick-figured, one character has a maple leaf for a head, another is a minotaur, one is a robot, another is a rock monster, and one is even just a swarm of bees.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

We made an "infinite hallway" in Shadows Over Loathing. The office numbers start at 1,001, and here's a player screenshot at 15,000, which must have taken hours of monotonous walking to reach... www.reddit.com/r/ShadowsOve...

I’m no expert on it, but I don’t think that sort of breakdown is built in. You can see unit sales of a SKU over time, but I think you’d need to suss out the full/discount stuff on your own in a sort of tedious spreadsheet-y way?

A few nights ago, I watched Project Hail Mary without knowing anything about it. I experienced the kind of genuine awe and excitement that I don't really get with movies anymore. I stopped watching trailers or following movie release schedules a few years ago and it greatly increased my enjoyment.

Inkwell Games just added a third puzzle to their daily set this week, "Lazy River" which is basically just the old Alcazar path puzzles (which I loved) as a loop instead of a route that enters and exits the grid. A bit easier, but still a fun daily to do.

President of MIT not mincing words today in @statnews.com www.statnews.com/2026/05/27/s...
So let me say it as clearly as I can: Without basic scientific research, supported by the kind of farsighted public investment that allows large-scale, undirected, curiosity-driven inquiry, the scientific pipeline will run dry.
In daily life, people may not feel the effects right away, or even in 10 years. But we will feel it. And when someone we love needs therapies that could have emerged but didn't or when other countries now
investing in science can launch new science-based industries or run their societies on vast resources of fusion energy or reap the benefits of quantum computing power or advanced medical breakthroughs, America will wish it sustained its leadership in scientific research here and now.
Sally Kornbluth is the president of MIT.
