Folks have a lot of pet peeves with movies these days, but my biggest one is probably that an absurd number of score composers are afraid of melody. I should be walking out of a theater humming your lietmotifs, you cowards, not feeling vaguely unsettled by ambient atonal strings

I think the easiest way to spot the difference between live action stunt casting for animation (like basically any Chris Pratt role) and an actor who genuinely walks in both worlds with sincerity is by their willingness to accept series rates for their performances

What's wild to me is that Gutierrez is smart, and he made this decision with 100% certainty that he wasn't being paid for involving himself in the project; he was being paid to *forever* lose the respect, support, and affection of his peers and his audience. What's the price tag for that?

I've loved Guiterrez's work and I'm glad that he ultimately dropped out...but don't think I'll be interested in whatever else he creates for a long time. This was a real lose-lose situation for everybody.
