There's a lot of talk about consent. But when men see a woman as a body only, for the taking, it means consent wouldn't have occurred to them. This is more than knowing to ask if something is okay; it's a long-time systemic and cultural view of women as objects that needs to be unwound everywhere.

Once again. PIP is an independence payment. It exists to put disabled people level with the able bodied before anything else is taken into account. Yes, that disabled person gets more money than you because of PIP, but that's because it's costs them that much to do what you do for free!

I worry this too. They want a Hollywood-esque damsel-in-distress they can swoop in for & bravely fight off the attacker, while they bask in the applause and adulation of the would-be victim & passers-by. Instead, saying "that's messed up, stop it" feels too much like being a hall monitor scold.

For a good 30+ years of my life I had no concept of what "trans" was. I just knew I wasn't into guys yet somehow desperately wished I was feminine, and that made no sense in the "queer" spectrum I was aware of up to that point. I had no words to describe my feelings. Nobody to talk to, either.
