When I moved to Canada, my housemate was away in Florida, so I had a few nights alone with two girl cats + one boy. My first night the two girls laid with me on the bed, then they decided to take the pizza saver WHILE 90% OF THE PIZZA WAS STILL IN THE BOX so they could play with it. I love them.

By and large this is kind of true, though I'd say this was certainly more a post-Iraq phenomenon, when the GWOT folly was laid bare for all to see. Immediately post-9/11 saying you opposed invading Afghanistan was tantamount to being a Taliban sympathiser in the eyes of the wider establishment.

When I worked for the local council, even accepting a basket of fruit from a member of the public could be construed as bribery which could result in dismissal, but if you're a corrupt politician you can just get a mate to clear you of wrongdoing and move on. The system is built for them, not us.
