Whether it’s Donald Trump banning media outlets he doesn’t like from the White House or the Oberlin student Senate banning use of racial epithets during student debates, both sides have a free speech problem.

When authoritarian regimes collapse, their leaders experience symbolic deaths, largely through the destruction & removal of monuments that they've built to glorify themselves and affirm their power. Sometimes called "iconoclasm," who gets a statue or monument is always a symbolic struggle for power.

Trump’s 50% tariffs on Canadian goods just took effect—Maine is going to feel it hard. Its economy is deeply intertwined with Canada: blueberries, lobster, lumber, paper mills. These tariffs raise costs & threaten jobs across the state. Susan Collins won’t stand up to Trump and fight to stop them.

A tweet from user @pookleblinky.
Every heartwarming human interest story in America is like "he raised 200.000 to keep 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan crushing machine" and then never asks why an orphan crushing machine exists or why you'd need to pay to prevent it from being used.

Wall Street Mav on X: Christopher Nolan has cancelled all screenings of The Odyssey with movie influencers.

He is only allowing approved critics to see it in advance.

He is waving the surrender flag. They know they have a financial disaster on their hands.
