i hope media executives are taking note of the tens of thousands of people who for several hours on a friday night have stayed glued to livestreams of scaffolding being built just so they could witness his name getting knocked off a building

When a regime clearly holds the rule of law in contempt, and views itself as completely above the law, it and its agents don’t have any moral argument for the protections of the rule of law.

Of the biggest scandals in US history just this week, I think I’d rank them: 1) Federal paramilitaries invade US city based on racist lies, murder US citizens 2) Slush fund for the president from stolen foreign resources held in Qatar 3) Whatever FBI and DNI are doing re: 2020 election in Georgia

Donald Trump’s Remarks on the Death of Rob Reiner Are Next-Level Degradation
On a weekend of terrible violent events, you would not expect a President of the United States to make matters even worse. But, of course, he did.

In a less insane time, if it was discovered that the President of the United States said this privately to their AG, it would’ve triggered an all-encompassing, impeachable corruption scandal. Here, Trump is saying it publicly and it’s just another Saturday.

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

Journalistic suggestion: Zero value in offering politicians the doily of quotes about "concerns." Senators are what they vote for. Murkowski could have stopped this atrocious bill. Could have been McCain w ObamaCare. Instead she bowed down. (Thinking of her quote in April, "We are all afraid.")
Story saying that Lisa Murkowski "still had remaining concerns" about the Trump tax bill—which she cast the deciding vote in favor of.

Ignore any sober geopolitical analysis of "why Trump went to war." The truth? A buck-naked mad king impulsively and unilaterally dropped bombs 6.500 miles away because that's what fascist dictators always do in the end This is Donald Trump's war, not ours. My column www.inquirer.com/opinion/dona...

A mad king’s pointless war is where Donald Trump was always heading
There is no legal or moral justification for Donald Trump's bomb strike on Iran, just the ego of an increasingly delusional president.

It's pretty notable that mainstream, establishment discourse never ever ever considers giving liberal politicians credit for crime reductions. It's almost axiomatic that if crime goes down under a center-left leader it's either unremarked upon, or must be driven by something else.

I wish journalists would stop framing political news as wins or losses for politicians or political parties. It’s an abrogation of our mission. Why do we keep doing this? Is the spending bill a win or loss for the American people? Who does it help? Who does it hurt? Is it sound policy? Fiscally?
