There have been some really wacky claims about #AI and weather forecasts. Chaotic systems are very hard to predict, their aperiodicity makes the idea of fitting a model to prior data absurd. Unsurprisingly, #physics -based models do better on unexpected extrema.. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Weighting the pros and cons of biomarkers was already a hot issue discussed by my epi profs, especially PSA testing for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer has effective treatment, yet testing posed an ethical conundrum. Now, pushing people towards ineffective treatments is quite something... #medsky

As an electrophysiologist, I fear that there is no simple 1-to-1 mapping between connectomics and circuit dynamics. Circuit dynamics switch in a few ms, gene expression in neurons changes over time in response to stimuli and activity, in ways that cannot be clearly seen structurally... It's tricky.
