Wow, it even predicts unexpected shocks due to the chaotic behavior of markets, it's like magic! (Or something is deeply wrong with the study 😂)

There have been some really wacky claims about #AI and weather forecasts. Chaotic systems are very hard to predict, their aperiodicity makes the idea of fitting a model to prior data absurd. Unsurprisingly, #physics -based models do better on unexpected extrema.. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Some bacteria, masters of redox chemistry, do "poop" gold nanoparticles for instance. But larger amounts are probably overkill

Not just that, the amount of reduction and energy needed to bring oxide minerals into metallic form is insane. Living beings can build crystalline glass cages from dissolved silica ions without a furnace (already impressive), but metal is a different beast.

Physicists have been debating for years whether a certain elusive topological quasiparticle had been created in RuCl3. Now it turns out that something even weirder may have been going on, sound quasiparticles, phonons, that respond to magnetic fields despite being uncharged! #physics #emergence

Jet streams self-organize due to the balancing between the poleward pressure gradient and the coriolis force caused by rotation. This is known as geostrophic balance, and on earth it causes weather, as the planetary waves interact with terrain. On Saturn, they run unimpeded and generate patterns.
