25 years later and The Onion’s ParentCorner 9/11 explainer from immediately after the attack is a better understanding of the threat environment than the one produced by the U.S. government.
An Onion article titled “Talking to your child about the WTC attack,” which is filled with real good info.

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.
Portrait of Andrea González-Ramírez
By Andrea González-Ramírez, a senior writer for The Cut who covers systems of power. Those physicals, Maria explains, are usually perfunctory: “Like, Are you walking normally? Are you lightheaded? I have never had to take any clothes off. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or violated.” If IL26-638 were to pass and Maria were still in school, she says she would likely drop out of her team. (We’re withholding Maria’s real name to protect her privacy.) “I honestly don’t know if I would be able to do these tests,” she adds. “It would also make me question, If I do it, are all my teammates going to too? Or would I just play with the three or four girls who are willing to or have access to do it?”

If Andy Beshear does not push this to a conclusion that either has him appointing McConnell's replacement, or McConnell reappearing, Beshear will be out of Democratic politics. We need rabble-rousers, not the same quiet, proper Dems who keep losing.

The MSM is terminally stupid. The big news today is that retail sales are "robust", jumping 0.9% month-over-month in May, above forecasts of 0.5%. A search by category shows the biggest bulk of higher spending came at gas stations. This is not good, unless your name is Chevron. #EconSky

Our water is too valuable to waste. Yet more than 500 planned data centers are headed to drought-stricken areas. We deserve a say before our water is handed over to these corrupt bigshots.
Infographic from The Guardian comparing the locations of operational and planned data centers in the United States against drought conditions. The headline states that of 809 planned data centers in the U.S., 517 are in locations that experienced drought conditions during the past year. Two stacked charts show drought severity levels ranging from moderate to exceptional. The left chart shows 601 operational data centers, with 392 located in drought-affected areas. The right chart shows 809 planned data centers, with 517 located in areas classified as drought-stricken over the past year. The graphic highlights that a majority of both existing and planned data centers are situated in regions facing water stress. Source cited as Cleanview data as of May 18, 2026.

A hot rocket hitting water caused the explosion and the end, and was therefore expected. The booster failure to make it back to the pad and damaged starship engine were the problems. I'm all for responsible space exploration but the whole starship program is ultimately just a grift.

It has also been real windy the past few days, so that helps. We still need more storage capacity (pumped hydro, batteries, etc). Anyways, I thought this was neat, I hope you did too. ...end nerd-out... #bpa #windpower #renewables #energy #pnw

Around 30-40% of energy generated (versus energy used) has come from wind power. It's crazy how much wind capacity has been installed in the PNW during the past decade. Almost 3x as much power is coming from wind than from nuclear. And only 2% is coming from fossil fuels or biomass.

Gonna nerd out for a second... The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) handles electricity generation for much of the Pacific Northwest.
A graph showing BPA Balancing load versus generation. Since Sunday the load has averaged between ~6000 to 8250 MW. During that time, about the same amount of energy has come from hydroelectric. About 3000 MW has come from Wind Power. Around 1100 MW has come from Nuclear Power, and around 200MW has come from fossil fuel and boiomass.
