I'm seeing a few folks unaware during the whole "moving from Tapas to ComicFury" scenario that bears repeating: ComicFury does NOT have an app! Do not download whatever fake CF app is out there. CF has a custom-built mobile viewer on most of its hosted sites. Use the browser website!!

Boy Genius is a sophomore in high school. Boy Genius is good at chess and his parents talk to him about going to real tournaments but he doesn’t know. Boy Genius incorporates Claude Code into his workflow. Boy Genius might enter politics one day, for all we know. Boy Genius is NOT interested in drugs or alcohol. Boy Genius is NOT interested in cynicism. Boy Genius wears straight cut jeans and graphic tee shirts. Boy Genius laughed when he learned what 9/11 was for the first time. Boy Genius Mother had him at 43 and feels self conscious around the more nubile mothers. Boy Genius considers name change: Man Genius. Boy Genius Adventure Time. Boy Genius Rick and Morty. Boy Genius is tired of learning Spanish already. Boy Genius sulks in bedroom and thinks about actually killing himself, over the stupidest things, over nothing. Boy Genius is tired all the time because he goes to bed each night at 3am and then wakes up at 7am.

YES I think we need to shift towards readers/audience being more proactive in keeping indie spaces alive now- there's only so many times an artist can move platforms before they burn out- and making a website isn't as viable for a lot of people!

I still think "make your own website" is best. But we can't pretend it's so cheap and easy for everyone. And audiences don't just show up at an independent site. Acting superior for having your own site doesn't help people who now have to scramble to replace audience and income.

This is exactly it! And I've never met the minimum requirements to get money out of Webtoons, just Tapas. So moving over to Webtoons will be really kneecapping me because I can't link out of the site, whereas I can direct link inside of Tapas.

yeah it's annoying that i'm seeing little sympathy from comic creators for anyone losing income via tapas :/ like it doesn't need to be your exclusive platform to be a place you're making money from and not everyone on tapas is going to follow all their fave comics to comicfury or whatever

I dunno. It just sucks to see a big part of my comic income go down and be constantly bombarded with the advice of "you need your own comic site." Yeah, I've got one, but I'm still going to be losing income when Tapas is gone.

I had the same thing happen with Smackjeeves, and both of these comic hubs were/are huge parts of my active readership. In my experience, there's a lot of people who aren't visiting individual comic websites, and Tapas is a nice way to make passive income.

I think one thing that I think is frustrating from the Tapas news (which we still haven't seen a statement from the English site) is the well-meaning comic people with the advice that you need to diversify. I have. Multiple times. I have my own website. Tapas is my biggest readership anyway.
