Sun & Mon July 26th & 27th 2026, find @potsofhistory.bsky.social and I @vindolandatrust.bsky.social Vindolanda Roman Fort, demonstrating Roman pottery making technology. It'll be the first outing for my conjectural reconstruction of a potential potters wheel found in the North Field.

Sometimes the kiln has other ideas... Our broken Egyptian Celebrant Figures don't go to waste. They become courgette supports in the garden. 😄 Thankfully, the ones that survive the firing are available here: potted-history.co.uk/products/egy... #PottedHistory #AncientEgypt #Pottery #Archaeology

Life is full of transitions. Janus reminds us to learn from the past without living in it, and to face the future with hope. Perhaps that's why this two-faced Roman god still speaks to us after 2,000 years. Learn more - potted-history.co.uk/products/janus #PottedHistory #Janus #RomanHistory

An ancient tradition relevant today. This is a Japanese Neolithic ear tunnel dating to the Jōmon period (c.10,500 BC to 300 BC). Amazing that modern ear tunnels would be recognisable to Japan's ancient population. Would you wear one? potted-history.co.uk

One of my favourite replicas. The Genius Cucullatus was found at Birdoswald, so he feels a bit like family. A hooded protector with Celtic roots, later embraced across the Roman world and associated with healing and the protection of children. potted-history.co.uk/products/rom... #HadriansWall
