Today someone expressed surprise (in a pleasant way you understand) that I'm still painting at 70 years old. So naturally I reminded them that the famous USA artist, Grandma Moses only STARTED her painting career at 78. And that old artists never die, they merely lose their sense of perspective.😉

The ivy outside @pottedhistory.bsky.social and @potsofhistory.bsky.social 's workshop is amazing at this time of year. The tiny flowers attract hundreds of bees of various species, plus hover flies, butterflies and all manner of other insects. Its an absolute joy to watch how busy it is.

This painting of a young horsechestnut tree will be going into the gallery window on Sunday.... They are such lovely trees, with their "candelabra" flowers in Spring, conkers and colourful leaves in Autmn and distinctive sweeping arched bare branches in Winter.

Yippee we've had some rain in Northumberland. The gardens will be happy, as will the whole landscapel. The farmers' fields are full of stubble and straw bales at the moment, all of which will be needed over the winter by their animals. It's a landscape vulnerable to fire, so wetting it down's great.
