Through barter, ingenuity, cultic sacrifice, and, most importantly, the acquisition of an Unyielding Engine, the Fifth Assembly lifted Dovecote safely into permanent station above the Great Void, and gathered around it their own flotilla of Orphan Vessels, orbital stations, asteroid bases, and other floating pieces of infrastructure. By the time the work was complete, Moonfolk across the orbit just called them the Freemoons Assembly.

Indeed, Freedom remains central to the Assembly. Freedom for members to come and go as they please. Freedom to live in ways that the Leo have deemed impetuous, the Killiad have determined unproductive, and the Venerant See has judged heretical. And, some say too often, Freedom from tending towards each other’s needs.

Yet this moon, the power’s most central and permanent holding, carries an appropriate name. Because while they may do so in their own time, in the end, Assembly members always return to the roost.

It is common to hear their craft called a low art, but oh, look at them glide and twist and tumble through the air! The door in front of you bears your name, painted in bright, child-like letters. It swings open effortlessly, revealing a room unlike anything else you’ve seen in this house.

It’s your room. Your room as it was in your parent’s house over ten years ago.

But unlike that room, this one is spotless, pristine even. Not a speck of dust can be seen on any surface. A perfect recreation of the room you spent your most formative years in.

What is the most notable feature of this room?

In what way is this room glaringly different from the one you remember?

The letter declares that the local park will be renamed Braddock Park in honor of the family. In the corner of the letter is a handwritten note in an elaborate calligraphy

You hear the sounds of singing from one room over—a familiar tune that your mother sang to you when you were young. The voice is not one you recognize, but you are still eager to see the source of the sound, tired of wandering the halls of the manor alone.

As you leave the room and go next door, you are surprised to see that there’s no longer another door in the hallway. The voice becomes louder and more frantic as the song continues without any discernible source, the words garbled as the volume increases.

Resolute to find the source, you walk down the hallway in the direction of the voice, all the while it wails your grandmother’s song.
