I first read War and Peace in my early 20s and had forgotten most of it, so much so that I am not certain whether I read it carefully. The only clue that I had was that I did remember the outline of the Pierre and Natasha romance. It was a breathtaking and invigorating experience.

A microcosm of my frustration with 🇺🇸 political media for years now. The AfD in 🇩🇪 is, if anything, <less> far right & authoritarian than the GOP, but neither @nytimes.com nor any other major media outlet regularly calls them a far right party. But as soon as it’s 🇩🇪, right in the headline. Every time.

A couple of days ago Zelenskyy told Belarus that if they didn’t stop allowing the coordination of Russian strikes on Ukraine, Ukraine would sort it out for them. According to Russian military bloggers, Belarus is now jamming relay stations used for Russian targeting. That tells you who’s winning.

Ukraine is slowly demilitarizing Crimea. Without Crimea, russia can’t attack southern Ukraine and can’t hold the land corridor. Suddenly, Ukraine has a theory of *military* victory even though so many have claimed from day one that is pure fantasy.
