not the least, I would like to thank my family: my parents, for buying me a lovely condominium at Harvard Street so that I could concentrate on my research with out worrying about paying rents,

I stopped reading after the lie in the first sentence: "Most college professors I know believe that students learn to think — critically, creatively, reflectively, tenaciously — only by writing." "<only> by writing"? Literally, no one thinks this. Don't. Print. Lies. In. The. Newspapers.

If Putin accepts, every European leader (at least) should boycott the event. The G20 no longer serves the useful purpose it had during the global financial crisis, when it was founded, so nothing that matters will be lost by not being there.

Stop submitting AI-generated papers. Polishing a sentence or two is fine, but submitting crap papers with little substance and chunks of word salad is wasting my time as a reviewer. And I will reject it with a three-line review. 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of the legion of reasons why I could never be a university president is that I would simply refuse to participate in the entire farce, whereby schools’ rankings fluctuate wildly by dozens of slots from year to year, & would tell regents, donors, & the media that it was all utter bullsh*t.

Also, invading & kidnapping the leader of another country, & then seizing its material assets, is an egregious violation of the UN Charter &, because we should take the law, Constitution, & our signed, ratified international treaties seriously, should immediately end his presidency.

Eine Meldung: "The Trump Administration says it is preparing a dozen signs for its Washington, D.C., museum sites that will warn visitors about the Smithsonian Institution in general, and the National Museum of American History in particular.

In letters to U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Jeff Merkley, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum wrote that a "commitment to public transparency" and "academic honesty" required the administration to advise visitors that "the leadership of the Smithsonian and NMAH have altered the museum's role from accurately and coherently telling America's story to using the museum as a tool to advance personal, radical ideologies."

More than any higher ed development in recent memory, institutional subsidies for AI at R1 universities prove that austerity is a choice. It is not “too expensive” to invest in a humanities research infrastructure; rather, it is a choice that R1 universities make not to & subsidize AI instead.

this post is the perfect mirror for the reader’s positionality. whether or not you felt a shared bond with all Americans in the immediate weeks after 9/11 is almost entirely a function of who you are and what position you held. maybe for a lot of people it was true. for others…nearly the opposite.
