Was watching Buffy’s Anya backstory episode. Friend asked why I sighed. “She’s not of a sufficiently high social class to have domesticated rabbits that far north in Europe in that century, but the writers couldn’t know, the paper was only presented at a conference yesterday.” Accuracy is fleeting.

if I had to read the phrase "boyfail catboy for the drones" then so do you. I refuse to be alone in this.
Two posts from @noahweinberger2003.bsky.social reading:
"I keep making this joke because it’s true.

This is the correct level of rainbow capitalism.

Love wins, and so does the NATO Alliance" (with photo of Lockheed Martin pride flag socks)
and:
"Also I do AI and cyber/pivoting to defense.

So I am a boyfail catboy for the drones ✈️

I find it bonus funny"

Basically, the requisite level of organizational thinking and clear expression is a skill in itself that I can feel myself exercising and improving, and will probably serve me well even when writing things by hand, which will constitute the vast majority of code I write for the foreseeable future

plainoldchair @plainoldchair.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Obviously, I could take the more stereotypical "vibe-coding" approach and just... not bother, giving the agent a more vague description of the problem and going with whatever it comes up with that seems reasonable. But if the details matter (and to me, they basically always do) then that doesn't fly

plainoldchair @plainoldchair.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
This can be easy not to do when I'm just writing code myself! It's not a great habit, but it's easy to just wing it and figure out the details as I go. Offloading the grunt work to a machine requires greater up-front clarity, a solid definition of the solution, and the ability to express that.

plainoldchair @plainoldchair.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
It's tempting to have it look into problems and figure out solutions, and I want my ability to do that *myself* to improve rather than diminish. However, if I want it to *write* something, it forces me to define and explain the problem and intended result very clearly and, well, definitively.

plainoldchair @plainoldchair.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
I've barely touched using agents for code (I don't want to touch corporate LLM products any more than needed, for various reasons), but in terms of "deskilling" it really feels like a double edged sword: I can see it atrophying some of the more nitty-gritty skills, while possibly improving others?

I'd like to expand "wastelanding" to when any sort of fixation becomes irrelevant: You just beat that game and now you have no clue what you're doing with your life, or you've been dealing with a specific problem for days, it's over now, and you've forgotten how everything else in reality works

I don't think it's defining them as made of precious metal, just stating that the earliest *were*, and providing inconsistent info from the rest of the article with regard to what the earliest coins were. I'm guessing one of those things just wasn't updated when the other was edited in.
