I was shocked (though I shouldn't have been) to learn, upon listening to Tuesday's public safety committee meeting today, that SPD chief Sayles explicitly said former chief Barnes delayed the Bite of Seattle press conference to be briefed, given that every headline said it was Mayor Wilson.

Congress can’t indict people. They can have hearings and impeachment trials. But not criminal trials. Please don’t expect criminal trials and then blame democrats when you don’t get them. Midterms are step one. We have to win in 2028 and add seats to SCOTUS to hold people criminally accountable.

Updated to note that Baltimore—whose lower violent crime Rivera says resulted from work by the consultant she says the mayor must hire—actually stopped consulting with that group after two failed efforts. Their recent success included a different focused deterrence strategy from U Penn.
