The AI rush is following the money. That’s historically continuous, eg The Cold War funding model. But the AI rush is also about currying political favor and signaling political loyalty. When that aligned with the money, it was a no brainer for feckless university leaders.

personally I think the fact that all of the companies pushing AI are hyper-right-wing fascist septic tanks whose leaders love shit like eugenics & transphobia & race science should factor into the thought process before anybody spends their free time glazing their products with philosophy exercises

sorry to vaguesky but I saw someone whose work has meant quite a bit to me personally sharing that their accomplishments affirm, for them, only their own feeling of uselessness. In empirical fact when we feel useless it is an illusory feeling. we have to Internalize and know this.
