Blocking my knitted Icelandic yarn jumper and the colour is running 🧶🫶😳 I hope it will be okay! #knitting
Yellow Icelandic yarn (Einrum+2) sitting in a bowl of cool water with a little Woolite washing liquid for ten minutes. The water is yellow! Eek! I hope this works out.

Finished knitting my tank top today. 🧶 I think it’s taken about a year. I didn’t knit through the summer. It was too hot! 😵‍💫💕🫶

I can’t help wondering what percentage of the people who are anti the Assisted Dying Bill have actually watched someone they love die a slow painful death. 🤔

Questioning my pattern reading tonight. This doesn’t look right. I am sure I’ve gone very wrong. 🧶 I’m in the middle of trying to shape the front of this jumper. It doesn’t look like I think it should? Can any knitter help me please? 🙏

I’m so sad that we have lost Dolly Parton. She was a truly good person, who worked so hard to get young children reading. I based one of my interventions on her Imagination Library programme when I was teaching, albeit on a much, much smaller scale. RIP Dolly x

The Reader on the 6.27, by Jean-Paul Didierlaurent My record of reading on Goodreads which is really just for my record of what I’ve read. It’s a lovely story about a man with a daft name and a goldfish. He reads aloud to other passengers on the train

Marvellously written, or too clever for its own good? I am three chapters in; finding the style a little bit tiresome. Shirley likes an adjective or several, as well as the past perfect. Hoping the story might carry me along.
The Transit of Venus, by Shirley Hazzard. The introduction is by Lauren Groff. The cover shows two faces cheek to cheek and the colours are semicircles of green, lime and lemon.

Reading The Fountain Overflows, by Rebecca West.
INTRODUCED BY AMANDA CRAIG

THE
FOUNTAIN OVERFLOWS

'Extraordinary and enchanting' Hilary Spurling, Observer

REBECCA
WESTRose observes her musical, bohemian family with a child's wisdom - sometimes with innocence and occasionally with cruelty. There is her twin Mary, whose nature chimes perfectly with her own; beautiful, obtuse Cordelia, pitied for not being musically gifted; her adored little brother Richard Quin; and her charming, unprincipled father Piers, whose streak of folly ever threatens to bring his family to financial and social ruin.
It is their mother Clare, beleaguered, kind and quixotically eccentric, who emerges as the family's true strength.

Any credible 10-year plan must put nature at its heart. @andyburnham.bsky.social, @angelaeagle1.bsky.social and @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social: you now have the opportunity – and the responsibility – to back the action and investment nature needs, and put the UK back on track. We hope you step up.

The Prime Minister, @andyburnham.bsky.social, has spoken about being honest about the challenges we face. So, as we welcome our new Prime Minister and cabinet, let's start there: Nature is disappearing. The climate crisis is accelerating. The UK cannot thrive while both continue unchecked.

I loved this portrait of Dante Gabriel Rossetti at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery last week. His liquid blue eyes seem to be looking into my soul. I also love the date, with time’s arrow underscoring it. #preRaphaelite #Birmingham
A painting of Dante Gabriel Rossetti by William Holman Hunt, which I believe he painted after his death, showing his intense gaze and what was said to be his magnetic personality.

And this, remarkably, has survived. A medieval wall painting showing the crucifixion, that was originally in the refectory, where the monks would have eaten. Alas, only the legs remain. An additional floor was added and the top of the painting lost for ever.

Another picture from our visit to Coventry. This is at the Charterhouse, where monks lived. It was then owned by Robert Dudley around the time he hosted Elizabeth I at Kenilworth. Perhaps her train of servants stayed here.
