Nichts. Gar nichts.

Das ist ein Skandal!

Was dahinter steckt, ist natürlich ganz klar: Jede Rede hätte klar machen müssen, was der Grund für diese Hitzewellen ist.«

This Stone Wall Seems to Have Finally Settled Debate About The Town That Became Paris
Excavations in central Paris have turned up a stone wall that may have finally settled the debate regarding the true origins of the city. City officials described themselves as feeling “dizzy” looking down onto what is essentially Paris’ zero point in time, made all the more dramatic as it still bore the scars of Julius […] The post This Stone Wall Seems to Have Finally Settled Debate About The Town That Became Paris appeared first on Good News Network.

Researchers have constructed the oldest ice core–derived climate record from the Tibetan Plateau, which confirms that the Guliya ice cap is more than 100,000 years old. Learn more in #ScienceAdvances: scim.ag/4AMkty3
The Guliya ice cap (GIC) is the largest body of ice in the western Kunlun Mountains in the Tibetan Plateau. Ice cores drilled on the GIC preserve the record of past climate change in the region, an area which provides water for several billion people in Central and South Asia. Thompson et al. analyzed ice cores drilled in 1992 and 2015 and used cosmogenic isotopes and Asian monsoon records to construct an accurate climate timescale extending back 128,000 years, the oldest ice-core-derived climate record from the Tibetan Plateau. The timeline supports the presence of glacial-stage ice in the GIC, confirming that GIC ice is over 100,000 years old.

Another nasty feedback enhancing climate change. Arctic glaciers hold bakc a bunch of ancient methane stored in the rocks beneath the ice. The more glaciers melt, the more methane they are likely to release. 🧪 Link: www.nature.com/articles/s41467-026-…
Conceptual model of subglacial methane mobilization.
Methane can be introduced to the subglacial drainage system by thermogenic and microbial sources, especially beneath temperate ice zones where the ice-bed interface is thawed and hydraulically conductive. Permafrost beneath cold ice zones, where the ice-bed interface is frozen, substantially reduces hydraulic permeability, and therefore methane sources are limited. Once the glacial river is exposed to the atmosphere, methane begins to outgas, although some methane may be consumed in the river by in-stream methanotrophy. Potential additional sources of methane to the proglacial river include in-stream methanogenesis and inflows of methane-rich groundwater.

It is official now: the new UN report finds we'll cross the 1.5 degree warming limit very soon. Now what? Two months ago we described the range of plausible climate trajectories ahead in this article (open access). In short: it's like we're stuck in quicksand, where only an active pull can free us.
