Pod Save America “deploying the affective registers of alternative media in service of institutional Democratic politics, fueling its success during the first Trump administration & constraining its ability to offer meaningful critique during the Biden years” ✅ journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1...
Abstract of paper:

“Pod Save America (PSA) is the flagship show of Crooked Media -a venture designed to build liberal media infrastructure and counter the
Trump administration in the aftermath of the 2016 election. Drawing on Wodak's discourse-historical approach (2001), this paper examines interviews and media coverage of the podcast, with particular focus on the "Resistance" movement of 2017 and 2020/2024 elections, to
analyze its contested status as an alternative voice within the liberal media ecosystem. The podcast's evolution reveals an agonistic identity born of a partisanship deploying the affective registers of alternative media in service of institutional Democratic politics,
fueling its success during the first Trump administration and constraining its ability to offer meaningful critique during the Biden years. Ultimately, analysis of PSA demonstrates both the possibilities and limitations of composite approaches to alternative media development in a period of media fragmentation and partisan polarization.”

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

Whenever my mother talks about my job, she never fails to remind me of all the times I've gotten injured.
The implication is clear: I should just ditch this dangerous job. If I were a professional hockey player getting showered with money and glory, with an elite medical team to look after me, I doubt she'd constantly harp on my injuries and the risks of my job. Yet it's these very things—risk and physical intensity-that make the garbageman's job so exceptional. In my opinion, a garbageman's performance is on par with that of an Olympic marathon runner or a pro hockey defense-man. But no one would ever think of comparing the

Our work as garbagemen resembles elite sports for its combination of performance, toil, and pushing yourself to new feats. But our extreme sport is performed for members of the lower classes. In our world, that's enough to belittle you. The garbageman puts his health at risk for society as a whole. He takes great pride in it. But workers' strength is a commodity to be exploited until their dying day, with no regard for their well-being or will. And if we do care about workers' safety, that care takes the form of drawing up regulations and tying them up in bureaucratic red tape, a surefire way to kill the joy in any job.
