Through decrees & laws, Nazis abolished civil rights & destroyed democracy. Starting in 1934, it was illegal to criticize the government. Even telling a joke about Hitler was considered treachery. People in Germany could not say or write whatever they wanted. (via the Holocaust Encyclopedia)

Many deteriorating buildings have come off of operating agreements (or are about to) and no longer receive provincial or federal subsidies - but were left in terrible shape by decades of operational underfunding. So grants like this are critical.

One of the rounds of disaffection resulted in Rustad being ousted as leader, though he stayed in the party. More recently, Findlay became leader and even more resignations and oysters followed, including Rustad kicked out of a second party in five years!

this is a bit of an obsession of mine especially here in charlottesville. the cost of commercial real estate is prohibitive if you want to experiment and the city seems categorically opposed to small lots and small units that could allow people to start businesses without a huge capital investment

There's a lot of blame on parents these days when it comes to kids' academic failures, but this picture has been making the rounds on my social media pages. The parent who posted it was frustrated that her sixth grader got an 8/10 on this writing assignment. The school is arguing it meets standards.
