this shit is so frustrating because there's SO MANY interesting and under-platformed artists, academics, scientists, thinkers, doers, and activists out there to spend outlet resources on, yet the press endlessly platforms and amplifies the biggest dipshits imaginable

"the gays were really polite and normal about it" no see what's happening here is that being gay feels normal to you now, so their activism seems reasonable in hindsight. trans activism feels egregious because you think trans people are grotesque

Everyone stfu the Sixth Circuit issued *gigantic* AI sanctions storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
We wholeheartedly agree. Irion and Egli breached the trust that we must have in the
lawyers appearing before us. They have brought the profession into disrepute. Irion's and Egli's failure to comply with the basic rules of our profession has forced us and the City to unnecessarily expend time and resources on a case that should have been litigated and resolved straightforwardly but was not. More importantly, by breaching our trust, we can no longer rely on the representations in Irion's and Egli's briefs, harming both their clients (whose cases are now viewed with skepticism and this court who must now independently verify everything Irion and Egli write. Finally, Irion and Egli have sullied the reputation of our bar, which now must litigate under the cloud of their conduct. We therefore issue these sanctions to Irion and Egli, the rationales for which we will explain below:
1. Irion and Egli must jointly and severally reimburse appellees in full for their reasonable attorneys' fees on appeal in all three appeals.
2. Irion and Egli must jointly and severally pay double costs to appellees for costs incurred under 28 U.S.C. § 1920 on appeal in all three appeals.
3. Appellees must file an accounting of their costs and attorneys' fees on appeal, with supporting documentation, no later than seven days from the date of thisorder. Irion and Egli shall file any responses or objections to appellees' requests for costs and attorneys' fees on appeal no later than seven days thereafter. There will be no replies.
4. Irion and Egli must each separately and individually pay $15,000 to the registry of this court as punitive sanctions for the proceedings in this court in all three appeals.
5. The clerk will forward a copy of this order to the chief judge to consider disciplinary proceedings under Sixth Circuit Local Rule 46.
6. If Irion and Egli are financially unable to comply with some or all of the requirements of this order, they must file an affidavit under seal describing their financial situation along with their objections to appellees' fee requests.

I posted about this dress back in 2018, one of the first years I began to do my #ootd. Even from all that time ago, I have never forgotten this dress- a 1900-05 Doucet robe a transformation. It was therefore such a pleasure to see it in person at the #PaulPoiret exhibit. Once again, it was there

Hi Andrew,

You have a new invoice for $63,755.71Tariff Fee on T Shirt

Total Due: $83.27

Government Charges: $59.27
Brokerage Charges: $24.00How to go about disputing an incorrect tariff charge?

Total Due: $82.92

Government Charges: $68.92
UPS Brokerage fees: $14.00I’ve received 15 different duties and tariff charges for items I didn’t order.
Customer Seeking Help
The title is the crux of the issue. Over the past 3 weeks I’ve received numerous brown envelopes all charging me for duty and tariff fees associated with items that I never ordered.

The seller is somebody I’ve bought from before, but the last time I purchased from them was several months ago and my name is on the sold to slot. The “shipped to” person is someone I don’t know and the address and tracking address are both unrelated to me.

I’ve sent emails to an address given to my by the one time I was able to get through the phone number listed on the paper bill. They said the invoices will be removed in 4-6 weeks but now I’ve started receiving late fee bills on top. I’ve tried to call in again once a day, but I either get hung up on or my call drops once the wait lasts over an hour.

Any advice? I just don’t want this to go to collections or affect my credit for something I didn’t order or have any relation to besides my name being on something it shouldn’t have.

I got this from someone on Twitter years ago, and it's great fun The poster is credited to Raven Amos & Elyard • www.coherentlichthouse.com, but that seems to be a defunct URL now.
Faux-Western poster headlined ""WHY WOULD ANYONE
EVER WANT TO DO THAT?"

Stop right there!

Before you ask this lazy flawed and dangerous question...

Consider the following:

they couldn't see a good reason NOT to do it • the correct button was an inch to the right • they thought they were being funny or clever • the "DEL" button means
"deliver"
', right? • because they're a moron • malice aforethought • they had a bad day • cranial trauma • if there's an easier way to do it, it must be safe to do • they're crazy they're smarter than you • it looked like fun after a night of heavy drinking • money they made a mistake and only thought they wanted to do it • boredom • curiosity peer pressure • family pressure • promise of reward other than money • they are sadists that enjoy your suffering • for the thrill of it • because you're a jerk • beeause they re a jerk • because their boss is a jerk • because their significant other is a jerk because your significant other is a jerk • because yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes thereafter • because God or the Devil told them to • they are obliged and bound by contract to produce as much crummy product as possible and you're the poor sap that bought it• to save the whales to save the dinosaurs • because the 60 seconds of consideration you've given the problem doesn't account for all possibilities that an entire planet full of angry primates can think of over the course of history

This question is the refuge of fools, the arrogant and the lazy-minded!

It may be found in the company of fellow miscreants "No one would ever do that", "How could that ever happen", and "That's just an edge case."

Do not approach this dangerous and destructive question.

If you are confronted by it or its ilk, defend yourself by asking
"What prevents someone from doing that?" or "What will happen if someone does that?"

Bitly is adding advertising interstitials to its free QR code service. Which I guess is part of trying to balance the cost and revenue. But it is also doing so retroactively even for existing codes. Which is a really shitty thing to do.
Upcoming Changes to our Terms of Service
We are making some adjustments to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that will affect you as a user of Bitly's free plan.

Beginning in the next month, when your audience interacts with your Bitly links or QR Codes, they may see a preview page prior to being directed to the destination URL. The page includes information about the link destination and may include advertising.

As a free Bitly user, you can remove the preview page experience from your links and QR Codes at any time by selecting a paid Bitly plan.

Remember that in order for hatred to be multiplied, it must be engaged with. Don’t “dunk” on racist/transphoic takes - block them. Don’t entertain trolls and bad-faith individuals - block them. Don’t let the people assailing those you love encroach on YOUR space. Kick them out and lock the door.

One of the really common questions I get with #BadActorBingo is: why would anyone want to DO that? What's their MOTIVE? It's a hard question to answer sometimes, because there's a billion possible answers and some of them make you sound like the guy standing in front of the murder board ranting.

So I wrote this, and it's the best thing I've ever written. "We will resolve disputes in favor of protecting users as a whole." That right there. That tells everyone how Trust & Safety is going to act, and it gives T&S profound latitude. They're not there to rules-lawyer or first-amendment.

The thing I like about GBBO is that when a piece of kitchen equipment has a spectacular failure, they show it instead of trying to hide it. Always seems to be about shoddy glass products, too. Love it when a mixer bowl or oven door explodes into shards at zero provocation. 😒
