I’m frustrated by the response to Lanterns by some popular internet critics. The ending did not “fall apart”. It was not “anticlimactic”. It subverted your expectations about what a dramatic climax could be and offered you healing, forgiveness, repair, platonic love, and pivotal character growth.

The very odd phrasing of this announcement makes me wonder if it’s an iffy translation or there’s some strange legal situation where the movie as a product (or physical product) cannot be sold. Like, streaming is okay but no blurays or if this just means the characters and music can be used.

As much as I like Surf Dracula as a two-word encapsulation of why Prequel Mini Series are so lame, Lanterns is not one of those. The title is plural, and we never met Hal Jordan in some previous DCU thing. It's a story about passing the torch which carries different expectations than a prequel

Place holds about 9,000 in the seating areas not counting the floor. They cut off 1/3 of the house like a common concert setup. Upper bowl had people up there in other photos. They probably had 5,000 there, MAYBE.

If anything, #Lanterns explains too much, and yet there are dozens of people who watched it who still didn't get half the plot points or understand any of the subtlety it did have. Just watch Paw Patrol or something, you fucking illiterates. I can imagine them trying to watch The Sopranos.

I notice that #Lanterns was likely review bombed by chuds on Rotten Tomatoes to lower the Audience Score. Critical Drinker and his ilk were behind this shit. Lanterns had some deficits, sure, but this is just a tantrum being thrown by losers. #DCU
