This had me seething a few weeks back when I'd heard private rumblings about it. The IFPA is banning trans players for speaking out against their inaction. If you play (or wish to play) competitive pinball, don't enter IFPA-sanctioned tournaments. They will not stand up for LGBT players.

After seeing genAI game trailers appear even before Gamescom, I reached out to a few trailer editors to see how they feel about its use. Derek Lieu gave me this winner of a quote, among many others in the article.

The biggest chip on my shoulder with pinball right now is just how few people were actual friends (or allies to my friends) in that space. The IFPA governing body purports themselves as LGBT supporters, but the very first time that was tested, they buckled, did nothing, and most everyone flipped on.

It's getting close to a year since the OBX incident in pinball, and with a local spiritual successor to that tournament coming up this week, I'm feeling quite raw that very little has improved in competitive pinball; in fact, it keeps taking steps backwards. It's amazing how much poor production quality is forgivable in endurance racing when ads aren't playing every 5-10 minutes like the US networks have done for the last several decades. Confusing leaderboards? Prattling, unfocused commentary? Just have 20-30 minutes of racing between ads and I'm fine.

To be clear about this, anything over about +6s at this Grand Prix requires getting special permission from F1 stewards to compete in the race, because it's uncompetitive and dangerously slow. Aston Martin is twice that gap, over $400M later. Hilarious.
