A defunct #Starlink satellite just re-entered in the atmosphere over the Netherlands. These images were captured by my allsky camera. This was one of the early Starlink satellites, having been launched in August 2020.

Maximum distances achieved on each band using QRP power levels and FT8. It should be noted that, in ionospheric propagation, higher transmit power does not inherently extend the maximum achievable distance; instead, it increases the likelihood of successfully establishing contacts at that distance.

Is amateur radio dead? Right now, on 11 meters between 27.400 and 27.800, at least 50 SSB frequencies are in use by radio enthusiasts. How sad is it then that from 28300 to 28700 absolutely no one can be heard... I think the difference lies in being enthusiastic. The old grumbler has spoken...
