"My inescapable conclusion has become that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people." Written by an Ivy League professor who studies the Holocaust; who served in the IDF. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/15/o...
My inescapable conclusion has become that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. Having grown up in a Zionist home, lived the first half of my life in Israel, served in the I.D.F. as a soldier and officer and spent most of my career researching and writing on war crimes and the Holocaust, this was a painful conclusion to reach, and one that I resisted as long as I could. But I have been teaching classes on genocide for a quarter of a century. I can recognize one when I see one.

We’re c.2004 in the crypto-banking nexus. Everyone thinks they’re a stable genius & society is hailing them as such. But eventually the tide will go out & the inevitable Buffett moment will be incredibly ugly & costly. It always is. Over & over & over again. We keep forgetting what we’ve learned.

What @abenewman.bsky.social and I said back in 2019, right as stuff was beginning to kick off direct.mit.edu/isec/article...
When interdependence is used by privileged states for strategic ends, other states are likely to start considering economic networks in strategic terms too. Targeted states—or states that fear they will be targeted—may attempt to isolate themselves from networks, look to turn network effects back on their more powerful adversaries, and even, under some circumstances, reshape networks so as to minimize their vulnerabilities or increase the vulnerabilities of others.114 Hence, the more that privileged states look to take advantage of their privilege, the more that other states and nonstate actors will take action that might potentially weaken or even undermine the interdependent features of the preexisting system.115 The ability of states to resist weaponized interdependence will reflect, in part, their degree of autonomy from those economic interests that hope to maintain the benefits of centralized exchanges even in the face of greater constraints on state authority.

🔥 New forum: "Decentring Agency in World Politics: Writing for Reflexivity as a Collective Experiment" @journalpariss.bsky.social We explore writing practices that foster reflexivity within readers. We focus on one reflexive process: decentring & one problem: the denial of non-Western agency 🤓
How can we help each other, through our writing, in challenging the potentially harmful perceptions we have unconsciously acquired? How can we assist readers in becoming more reflexive about the things we write about? Here, we build bridges between the methodology of reflexivity and the methodology of writing, focusing on writing practices that aim at fostering reflexivity within our readers.
